The Things I’ll Bring With Me

As we approach the turning of a new year I hope this post finds you and your family healthy and safe! I don’t know of a single soul who isn’t ready to be rid of 2020 and embrace a new year full of hope and promise. I’m right there with you!

As I prepare myself for all things new, there are several things from this year I choose to carry with me. First, I’ll take the fresh perspective from God’s word which helped me to understand when we get ahead of God we are setting ourselves up for failure and could be delaying the very work He longs to accomplish through us.

Psalm 119: 105 “ Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.” NKJV

God will light our paths and make them straight, just not like I imagined. Once He reveals a calling for us, He will not change His mind or leave us to fend for ourselves. He is our helper. He gives us enough light to show us the next step as we trust Him daily. He doesn’t give it all to us in one lump sum! He wants us to rely solely on Him for His direction and clarity. It’s important to walk with Him and not ahead of Him or lag too far behind Him.

Second, I’ll take my humility with me and put it into practice daily. One thing this year has shown me is I don’t know much about anything! I simply confess I don’t know what God is doing! Even so I choose to follow Him through reading His word, prayer and fellowship with other believers, even if it is a small group, such as myself and one or two or three others. Fellowship and accountability are so vitally important. More so than the accountability, is the connection and it means so much and does a soul so good to sit and talk about the things Jesus is doing in our lives. It’s one of the ways we learn about Him. Connection with Jesus and others matters!

Matthew 18:20 “ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.” NKJV

The third thing I choose to take with me is my surrendered heart! It’s time isn’t it? Time to throw our hands in the air, drop our heads and confess we are His and our hearts are His to do as He pleases, to make it clean and pure and devoted. If you will confess and surrender your heart and ask God to cleanse it so you can be more like Jesus, I promise He will show you your heart and change your desires so they line up with His will for your life!

Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” NKJV

Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. NIV

As you prepare to throw out the old to make room for the new, I hope you will take some time to reflect on the things that are important and the things God has taught you this year. My prayer for you is that you will allow God to give you the strength to implement them into your lives and the faith to trust that He has only good for you once you surrender! I also pray you will find the courage to reach out to others who may be able to help you along your journey!

For those of you who have lost greatly, my heart and thoughts go out to you. May God bless you and bring healing and a renewed hope to you quickly.

To all of you may God bless you and the best of wishes to you! Happy New Year!
